Robert Collier's Biography

Born in St Louis, Missouri, Robert Collier was the son of John and Mary Ferguson Collier. His mother died before he reached his teens. As a foreign correspondent for Collier's Magazine, founded and published by his uncle, Peter F. Collier, his father traveled extensively throughout the world.

Collier had suffered from an illness which the doctors had failed to diagnose and therefore hadn't been able to treat successfully. After some time, he became interested in Christian Science and, through that system, he was completely cured. This convinced him that the mind had seemingly unlimited powers to heal the body. He began to ask himself why couldn't this Mind Power be effective in every area of life as well as illness? Why couldn't it be effective in business and the lack of finances? It was the beginning of a lifetime study.
