D. Santepi de lja Sossej, (russ. Namensform), P. D. Chantepie de LaSaussaye) born April 9, 1848 in Leeuwarden; dead April 20, 1920 in Bilthoven.

Son of the theologian Daniel Chantepie de la Saussaye. Chantepie de la Saussaye was a Dutch theologian and religious scholars who primarily as a publisher of the textbook of the history of religion (1. A. 1887. 2. A. 1897 3. A. 1905 4.. 1925) has emerged. He received his doctorate in 1871 at the University of Applied Sciences of Utrecht. He is considered one of the founders of the modern science of religion. From 1878 he was a professor of religious history at the University of Amsterdam and from 1899 to 1916 at the University of Leiden.

The published under his name textbook of religious history, for a long time a standard work of the times, was last edited by Alfred Bertholet and Edvard Lehmann (4. A., 1925). P. D. Chantepie de la Saussaye published his textbook of history of religion 1887-1905 a total of three times, the fourth and final edition was published only after Chantepie de la Saussayes death in 1925th She has been completely redesigned and differs from the previous three editions sharply.
